Love Noel: Letters and Songs by Noel Coward

Following on the success of First Date the Musical, Footlights Theatrical Inc is delighted to present the Australian premiere of Love Noel. The Letters and Songs of Noel Coward.

Based on Barry Day’s book, the show is a loving portrait of one of theatre’s most influential minds. Spanning several decades, the performance gives insight to some of his closest relationships with everyone from George Bernard Shaw to Edna Ferber, from the Queen Mother to his own mother, and of course, his constant collaborator, Gertrude Lawrence.
Who better to personify witty and talented Coward than Footlights own debonair crooner Adam Bartlett? And exquisite soprano Kellie Ireland has the task of evoking all the other women in his life. And what a fascinating life they have to tell about through song and story.
Coward’s story spans from his discovery as a child star and protégé of British aristocrats, through his life as a performer, writer, and personality of the twenties and thirties; and his work, both public and secret, for the British War Office in the forties, and into his cabaret career of the fifties, sixties and seventies. His sense of style was once described by Time Magazine as a combination of cheek and chic, pose and poise. Behind his flamboyant flair for words lay an incisive mind and inside knowledge of the best and worst of British society.
For four shows only from Aug 9-11 Coward’s words and songs will light up the Ron Hurley Theatre at the Seven Hills Hub. Tickets available through Trybooking, special senior prices for matinees.
